Meet the Staff

Nicola Athey - Physiotherapist

Nicola graduated in September 2010 from the University of Essex with an MSc Physiotherapy degree, she is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and is a HPC registered physiotherapist.  She previously obtained a BSc (Hons) Sports Rehabilitation and has a keen interest in Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries.  Currently Nicola is the Maldon RFC Physiotherapist and has been working within amateur Rugby League, Rugby Union and at a variety of sporting events including the London Marathon over the past five years.

 

Amy Blackwell - Sports therapist and Clinic Manager

Whilst managing the practice, Amy continues to work as a sports therapist, which she has done for 3 years.  Having studied at Loughborough University, she then went into Tennis coaching on a part-time basis. Amy decided to further her studies in addition, qualifying in Swedish and Sports Massage before completing a Diploma in Sports therapy.

 

Louise Carruthers - Osteopath

Louise Carruthers graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008 with a Bachelor of Osteopathic Medicine. She has completed further studies in Cranial Osteopathy, which she likes to integrate alongside a structural approach to treatment.   Louise enjoys working in general practice, but is also interested in sports injuries.  She has lectured on the shoulder and thorax to other healthcare professionals, and hopes to do more in the future.

 

George Florence - Chiropdist & Podiatrist

Registered with the Health Professions Council.

George has been qualified for 11years working both in his own practice and consulting to a number of physiotherapy clinics in Essex. He also provides a Chiropody service for the elderly residents of Coggeshall working for a local Charity.

His areas of expertise are Chiropody and Podiatry.

 

Peter Murphy - Physiotherapist

Peter attained an Honors Degree in Sport and Exercise Science before completing his Physiotherapy Degree at St George's Hospital Medical School, London in 2003. After working at Crystal Palace FC, he spent five years in the NHS where he rotated in all major fields before specialising in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.  Joining the Oaks Private Hospital, Colchester in 2008, he gained extensive experience with the Spinal Triage Clinic and worked closely with Orthopaedic Consultants and Sports Physicians. Additionally, Peter is qualified in manual therapy and Acupuncture and prides himself on the ability to treat all walks of life with his varied experience.

 

Carolyn Newman - Acupuncturist and Independant Midwife

Registered general Nurse 1985, Registered Midwife 1986, Registered TuiNa practioner 2009, Registered Acupuncturist 2010 Carolyn has worked alongside a Registered Chiropractor since 2006, and has used cold laser therapy to treat pain and inflammatory conditions.

Carolyn has special interests in: Maternity care (ante and post natal services); Musculo - skeletal conditions; Pain management.  Using a variety of knowledge and modalities Carolyn is able to compliment Western Medicine using massage, acupuncture and cold laser treatment.

 

Georgia Oakey - Dr Murad Specialist

Georgia is a qualified Beauty and Massage Therapist with 6 years experience in the Industry. However due to her experience with working in the product training sector her speciality is the skin.

Over the last three years Georgia has worked with the world’s best selling Medical brand Murad, as a business Development Manager and Trainer.

Rachel Ready - Reflexologist

Rachel started out in catering and had a facination with nutrition and the human body and trained as a full healer with the NFSH 15 years ago. This led onto becoming a Kinesiologyst (Btec), before taking up Reflexology and training with Jane Edwards in Colchester 10 years ago. She is still very interested in the human body, reading endless books on the topic and doing weekend refresher courses when possible.

 

Faye Riches - Pilates and Yoga Instructor

Faye has been in the Fitness Industry for over 18yrs. She began studying Pilates in 2002.  Since then she has seen improvements in posture, stability, strength and freedom from whiplash related pain. Then in 2005 she began to study yoga. She sees yoga as a continuous practise, which is helping her to understand the relationship between our physical bodies and our emotional, psychological and spiritual health.


Hannah Simons - Receptionist

Hannah is head receptionist at the Clinic. She completed a Professional Receptionist Training Course last year and is hoping to further her clerical skills in the near future. Stoke rehabilitation unit, a gynaecology ward, a dental, ear nose and throat ward and also with plastic surgery patients

As a Midwife, Carolyn has worked in all areas of practice including,the early pregnancy unit, antental assessment clinic, antenatal clinic, antenatal ward, delivery suite, postnatal ward and community. the community she worked with a team of midwives providing twenty four hour care to a caseload

Carolyn then went on to be a Ward Manager of a mixed antenatal and postnatal ward with thity Within her approach as an Acupunctuirst, Carolyn has learnt about many musculo-skeletal disorders and how to treat them, she is also well aware of her own limitations and knows when to refer her patients onto other professionals (including GP's and other manual therapists).
