Pilates is a great way to strengthen your body's core muscles and enhance your posture at the same time. It is a slow, controlled form of exercising that improves posture.
The exercises are designed to tap into the deeper muscle tissues in the body that help support the spine and gently pull in and up the stomach and pelvic floor muscles.
Pilates can be taken up by anyone mobility, fitness and age is immaterial. The exercises can help to improve suppleness and flexibility and is particularly beneficial to those overcoming back, knee and hip problems.
You'll enjoy a workout that is custom-made just for you
Through the development of exercise we recognise more than ever the importance of correct alignment, mobility and flexibility in the body to lead a happy and healthy life.
This is why more & more fitness experts are now incorporating pilates and yoga into their clients workouts and many medical practitioners are referring their clients to these work out disciplines to aid recovery after injury and to maintain better posture.
Most of us are in jobs that affect our posture. Over tightening of muscles and over lengthening of other muscles, bring imbalance and instability to our bodies. Heavy work loads bring on high levels of stress, combine this with a round shouldered, closed chest position we often adopt at work, and we are restricting the depth and the width of our vital energy source – our breath.

The word Vinyasa means breath syncronised movement. Movement is instructed from one move to another on an inhalation or an exhalation. It involves cardiovascular and strength building, flexibility, mobility, core work, pranayama (the art of breath control) and meditation (allowing the thoughts to become increasingly quiet and settled.)
Following this practice, expect to feel physically and mentally refreshed, increased energy levels, more alert yet calmer.
